Various special events are held at the park to bring forth park awareness, increase FORS memberships and raise funds for park operations and projects. FORS is continually developing new events which could be added.
Each Spring, FORS helps sponsor Cracker Days at the park. Cracker Days brings to life the history of Florida in the late 1800’s. Participants in the event dress in era attire and present practices that were normal in those days. Vendors are on hand to sell arts, crafts and other items as well as food. To find out more about this event, contact Park Services Specialist, Michael Good at 352-465-8518.
Dark Side of the Rainbow
In the past, FORS, along with the state park system, presented a Fall event entitled The Dark Side o the Rainbow which had a fall festival/Halloween type theme. Although the state park system has decided to no longer present the event, FORS has talked about recreating the event as a fundraiser in the future. If interested in being a part of this or any of our programs, please contact FORS President, Connie Santoro at 352-355-5317.
Santa Over the Rainbow
Santa over the Rainbow is the most popular event that is hosted at Rainbow Springs State Park headsprings. The park is decorated with thousands of holiday lights and décor that visitors can view. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and their elves arrive by boat and are available for pictures. The event includes various activities, games and storytelling to create an overall fantastic holiday experience. To find out more about this event, contact chairperson, Connie Santoro at 352-355-5317.
